The President’s Christmas lunch returned to the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron on Wednesday 17 December.

About 110 Probus members and partners attended, sitting at twelve round tables overlooking Port Phillip Bay, on a beautiful sunny day. This year, our club choir grew to 15 members, including five partners, under the direction of our new musical director and accompanist, Andrew Kerr, who also provided background music on our electronic keyboard prior to lunch.

Lunch comprised turkey breast and grilled salmon with vegetables were served, accompanied by bottles of red and white wine on each table. For dessert we had Christmas Pudding and Lemon Tart.

Following this, the choir led everyone to sing some carols.

2022- Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron

Our two major Club events in December and June are always joyous occasions which are attended by most Club members and partners.

This year was special because it was our Club’s 35th anniversary, because Ralph Butcher 104 years old attended and because it was the first time our new Choir, the Bayside Notes had performed.

Our bike group members made a special presentation of a painting to leader Ken Beadle. The painting was of Ken riding his bike and was done by Derek Skues who is also Choir master.

Our 17 Choir members sang lustily and received an encore. The conductor was Margie Beadle and the accompanist Gwen Rand. President Simon presented flowers in appreciation. Having so many of our members singing made the event inclusive.

Our free raffle was organised by Kevin and Rhonda Reed. Presents were beautifully presented. Allan Stone walked away with the main prize. Lucky Allan. It was held at Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron which is a beautiful venue
