March 2025 - Mid Valleys Restaurant
January 2025 - Sandringham Yacht Club
This January we tried something different for our Summer TASTES. We went to the newly extended and renovated Sandringham Yacht Club. Food and drinks were ordered from the Club Menu as opposed to an arranged meal that we noirmally have along with the “selected “wines” at $15 per bottle.
The number limit of 70 was sold out like a Taylor Swift concert. It was a great evening although the kitchen struggled with such a large group.
May 2024 - Fazio's Hampton
It was another great Tastes Dinner at Fazio’s Restaurant in Hampton on Tuesday 28 May with 63 attendees. There was the opportunity for relatively new Beaumaris Probus members and their partners to sit with, and get to know, old hands.
The usual Sicilian fare provided by Sam, including shared starters and a choiceof delicious pasta, pizza, risotto or chicken cacciatore. Geoff Bransbury provided his good value excellent wine including special Sicilian wine “Nero d’Avola”.
Everyone appeared very satisfied with the meal as reflected in David Rushworth’s presidential vote of thanks to Geoff and the staff at the venue.
February 2023 - Fazio's Hampton
55 Members and partners had a simply superb meal at Fazio’s, Sicilian Restaurant. It was a three course meal with our “especially’ selected wine by Geoff Bransbury. We even had some “Nero D’Avola – a Sicilian variety. The cost was $55.00 pp plus wine at $15.00 per bottle.
You may wonder what Geoff is groveling under the table….. well, he was actually being a gentleman for once and rescuing Ann Duggan’s badge that had dropped on the floor.
The evening was so good we aim to make this an ANNUAL EVENT!
May 2021 - Mid Valleys Malaysian - Bay Road
This superb little restaurant in Bay Road (opposite Aldi) is a “must visit! Host Lilly and Chef Johnny served us up a huge feast. 54 members attended. That was the maximum the restaurant could serve.
Wine was, as usual, carefully selected by Geoff Bransbury was available at $15.00 per bottle (wine is purchased from Dan Murphy when they have specials – the value of wines is normally $15–$18 at cost price.
The cost of the meal was $40pp and there was way too much food, but hosts Lilly and Chef Johnny wanted to show off their dishes. They certainly did that!
February 2021 Royal Brighton Yacht Club - 3rd year
This is our third year at RYBC, and it has virtually become an “annual event”.
We had a record crowd for Tastes at 81 guests. As before the food was outstanding and the venue is excellent. Unfortunately it wasn’t the best weather so luckily we held the event inside. The venue was closed for us and we had the place to ourselves.
The cost was $55.00 pp for a two course meal PLUS a bottle of wine per couple. Outstanding value.
February 2020 - Royal Brighton Yacht Club - 2nd Year
Little did we know...Our last event, just weeks before COVID hit...
Last year, this venue was such a success we decided to go back. The numbers were a record 72 people. The weather wasn’t so good so we held the event in the restaurant which we had to ourselves
The price was the same as last year -$50pp for a 2 course dinner with a free bottle of wine per couple

November 2019 - Madojai - Royal Thai - Beaumaris
A n excellent and varied meal was enjoyed by a full house of 45 members.
This restaurant prides itself on “high end” Thai dishes, also known as Royal Thai. The entres particularly reflect this.
This restaurant is more expensive than “street” Thai restaurants which are the norm, but well worth a visit. Note: This restaurant now closed.
August 2019 - Six Keys Beaumaris - French inspired night
59 attended a wonderful evening. Excellent food with French music, a big choice of French, Australian and NZ wines and a little tipple of Grand Marnier or Cognac donated from Geoff Bransbury’s spirit cupboard! Dave the host and Daniel the chef did a great job. Free corkage was offered to those who attended for all of September.
Sadly this restaurant is now closed

February 2019 - Royal Brighton Yacht Club - 1st Year
John Pound is a long time member of RBYC and suggested it might be an excellent venue for Tastes. How right he was.
We negotiated a very special price with Caroline and Hannah.
The weather was beautiful, and we had the event on the large deck. We could see the sunset. Some members got a little sunburnt, so the restaurant found us some hats!
The food was excellent .The price was $50pp for a 2 course dinner with a free bottle of wine per couple

October 2018 - Vincents, Beaumaris
This restaurant on Beach Road Beaumaris was an institution for over 30 years. It served excellent food at sensible prices. Sadly it closed in 2020.Our Tastes evening was no exception. The food was up to it’s usual standard in cost, quality and certainly quantity. A great evening.
Thank you Alan Stevens. This was Alans’ last evening as Tastes organiser.
